About Lang Resort
A Living World Shaped by the Sea
Lang Resort is a collection of historic places, genuine Finnish experiences and warm hospitality in Old Raahe on Finland’s northern coast. Rooted in centuries of merchant and maritime history, it brings the stories, traditions and coastal way of life of this remarkable place into the present.
Here, heritage is not preserved behind glass. It continues to be lived.
What It Is
More Than a Place to Stay
Lang Resort is not defined by a single building or experience. It is a collection of historic places, hospitality, traditions and experiences woven into the life of Old Raahe and Finland’s northern coast.
What connects them is a shared idea: to preserve what is meaningful, bring old stories into the present and invite our guests to experience this place as part of its continuing story.

A welcoming historic interior where the Lang world comes together.
The House
Where Hospitality Lives
At the heart of Lang Resort is Langin Kauppahuone, a historic merchant house in the centre of Old Raahe. Once part of a world shaped by merchants, ships and connections across the sea, the house continues its tradition of welcoming people today.
Guests come here to stay, gather around the table, enjoy breakfast or coffee and step into the stories of Finland’s northern coast. More than a historic building, Langin Kauppahuone is the living heart of Lang Resort.

The Place
Old Raahe, Shaped by the Sea
Old Raahe is one of Finland’s best-preserved historic wooden towns — a living neighbourhood of old houses, courtyards and streets shaped by centuries of trade, seafaring and everyday life.
The sea has always been part of that story. It brought ships, people and ideas, connecting this small northern town to the wider world. Its presence can still be felt in the seasons, traditions and way of life along the coast.
Lang Resort belongs to this place. To understand Lang is to understand Old Raahe — and the sea that shaped it.

The Sea
The Horizon That Shaped Everything
The sea has always influenced life here.
It brought ships, trade, ideas and opportunities.
It connected this northern town to the wider world.
Even today, the rhythm of the seasons, local traditions and many experiences remain shaped by the presence of the Bothnian Bay.
To understand Lang Heritage Resort is to understand the sea.

The Bothnian Bay is shaping life on Finland's northern coast.
The Story
The House of Lang — A Story That Began in 1699
The story behind Lang Resort reaches back to 1699, when the House of Lang was established in Raahe. Over the centuries, the Lang name became part of a thriving merchant and maritime world shaped by trade, ships and connections far beyond Finland’s northern coast.
That history still surrounds us today — in the merchant houses, streets and stories of Old Raahe. Rather than recreating the past, we draw inspiration from the people who lived here, the journeys they made and the world they helped build.
Lang Resort carries that story forward through hospitality, historic places and experiences that allow a new generation of guests to discover it for themselves.

A peaceful stay among historic wallpapers and thoughtful details.
Our Philosophy
Keeping Stories Alive
We believe heritage matters most when it remains part of life. Historic houses are not only places to preserve, and stories are not meant to be kept behind glass.
At Lang Resort, we bring the past into the present by caring for historic places, sharing local traditions and welcoming new guests to experience the stories and way of life of Finland’s northern coast.
We do not recreate history. We give it room to continue.
The story is never finished. Each visitor becomes part of it.
