Old Town Raahe was shaped by trade, ships and the people whose lives connected this small northern town to the wider world.
The Merchant’s Town Experience brings that history to life. A local guide leads the group through the wooden streets of Old Town Raahe and into the world of merchants, shipowners and seafarers, connecting the town outside with the stories preserved inside its historic houses.
For groups with less time, shorter guided experiences can also be arranged.

A stay at Lang can form a complete short programme or become one chapter of a longer journey through Finland.
DAY 1
Arrive & Step Into the Story
Arrival via Oulu or Vihanti and transfer to Old Town Raahe.
Settle into historic accommodation at Lang Resort before gathering around the table for a welcoming meal. The first evening introduces guests to the atmosphere of the old merchant town and the stories behind the houses in which they are staying.
DAY 2
Merchants, Traditions & Finnish Hospitality
Discover Old Town Raahe through its merchants, shipowners and maritime history.
Continue the day through Finnish traditions — local food, a story-led dinner or the warmth of a Finnish sauna.
DAY 3
The Northern Coast
Experience the Bothnian Bay and the changing northern season.
Depending on the time of year, the day may bring snow and ice, coastal nature, northern skies or seasonal traditions before the group gathers for its final evening at Lang.
DAY 4
Continue Your Finland Journey
After breakfast, continue towards Oulu, Rovaniemi and Finnish Lapland, or the next destination on your Finland itinerary.
Every programme can be tailored to the season, group and wider travel route.

Combine the Historic Coast with Finnish Lapland
Lang Resort can become part of a longer journey through northern Finland.
From Old Town Raahe, groups can continue towards Rovaniemi and Finnish Lapland — or add an Arctic Circle experience to their stay at Lang.
Arctic Circle Day Trip
Travel from Lang Resort to Rovaniemi and the Arctic Circle, enjoy free time to explore and return to Lang for a meal after the journey.
SantaPark & Arctic Experience
Combine the journey to Rovaniemi with SantaPark and a pre-arranged husky or reindeer experience, with time to explore before returning to Lang.
Tailor-Made Lapland Journey
We can build the journey around the group, season and wider Finland itinerary.
Guests do not need to return to Lang Resort. Groups or individual guests may continue their journey independently from Rovaniemi towards Finnish Lapland or their next destination.

Lang Resort is located in Old Town Raahe on the coast of the Bothnian Bay.
Oulu Airport
is approximately one hour away by car, making Lang easy to combine with flights through Oulu and other destinations in northern Finland.
Vihanti railway station
is approximately 30 minutes away and connects the area with Finland’s national rail network.
Private group transfers from Oulu Airport and Vihanti railway station can be arranged in advance.
For groups travelling by coach, Lang can be incorporated naturally into itineraries continuing north towards Oulu and Lapland or south along Finland’s western coast.
