Located next to Lang Heritage Resort, this historic house is known in Old Raahe as the House of Captain Himanka.

The apartment comfortably accommodates 1–4 guests. Although it includes a private kitchen, each morning begins with breakfast served at Lang Heritage Resort.

The house is named after Johan Himanka (1858–1929), a master mariner whose life reflected the golden age of Finnish sailing ships. As captain of the barque Altai, he sailed to distant ports across the world until the ship was wrecked on a coral reef off Madagascar in 1901. Local legend even tells that, during his unexpected stay on the island, he was invited to become an emperor—a proposal he politely declined.

Today, Captain Himanka’s House offers a peaceful retreat where the spirit of Raahe’s maritime heritage still lives on.
